This more-than-550-acre neighborhood offers customizable, versatile floor plans, a Residents Club that incorporates meeting and social spaces, a fitness center, two resort-style swimming pools, a playground, basketball and tennis courts, and a spacious event lawn.

Plus, enjoy Oakmont’s 46-acre Gopher Tortoise Reserve that’s home to a protected species. It features residents-only nature walks through north central Florida’s forested terrain.

But back to the court. Pickleball mania is real, and prospective Oakmont residents want to know where to play it. Read on for some suggestions.

Alachua County Sports and Events Center — located at 4870 Celebration Pointe Avenue, literally minutes east of Oakmont. This large multipurpose facility opened in June 2023 and offers 130,000 square feet for sports, meetings and conventions. It offers pickleball programs for adults and children, all on indoor courts. Summer camps and clinics are options for youngsters. Adult have plenty of opportunities to play, and there are development programs for players of all ages who want to level up their games.

Veterans Memorial Park — located at 7400 SW 41st Place and other pickleball option that’s only minutes east of Oakmont. An Alachua County Park with five outdoor courts with permanent lines. You’ll need to bring your own nets, but the courts here are free to play, with access to other park amenities such as restrooms and water fountains.

Northside Park — located at 5701 NW 34th Boulevard, Gainesville, a mere 13 miles north of Oakmont. A city of Gainesville park with four outdoor hard courts with permanent nets and eight others available to use with bring-your-own nets. All are free to play. Park amenities include restrooms, water fountains and lights.

Martin Luther King Jr. Multipurpose Center — located at 1028 NE 14th Street on Gainesville’s northeast side.. It’s part of Citizens Park, another city of Gainesville park, and offers four permanent indoor pickleball courts that are free to play.

Flavet Field  — located on the University of Florida campus, just south of bustling downtown Gainesville on Woodlawn Drive, between Stadium Road to the north and Museum Road to the south. Flavet Field is part of the UF Department of Recreational Sports, whose student Club Pickleball team is top-10-ranked!

There are four outdoor hard courts with permanent lines at Flavet Field, with portable nets available. These outdoor courts are used by UF’s Club Pickleball team for competitive play, but are open to non-UF groups too. If you work at the university or have a student affiliation with UF, these courts are free to play. Non-UF groups will pay a fee. All players must register to use the Flavet Field pickleball courts.
