Slacker Run Check Presentation

The Slacker Run, a fun .4k “race,” was held on Saturday, August 14at 11:00 a.m. The event featured live music by local band MPiRE, food trucks, a blow-up obstacle course for the kids, and much more. Adult runners were able to enjoy two free beers each, while underage runners cooled off with some Kona Ice. Free donuts were available for all.

Proceeds from ticket sales, t-shirts, and VIP Slacker Passes as well as any additional donations collected throughout the event went to support the Child Advocacy Center’s mission of breaking the cycle of child abuse in Alachua County.

“After the first annual Slacker Run was changed to a virtual event in 2020, we were excited to see what we could do to raise money and awareness in 2021,” said Jocylyne Wagle, Sales Manager for ICI Homes. “We are so excited that we were able to exceed all expectations and raise $31,000 this year. We also had so many positive comments from attendees about the event. Many stated that they can’t wait until next year. We are looking forward to seeing what we can do to elevate the event and bring even more donations to the CAC in 2022.”
